From 16th to 23rd February, a group of 13 Australian physiotherapists - led by Jenny Pynt of Stuvac Seminars - converged in Iquitos with two principal aims in mind:

- to hear Speaker E/Prof Gwen Jull, FACP, PhD give a 20-hour seminar entitled "Neck Pain, Whiplash and Headache: Clinical Management".

- to enjoy the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve on board the Historic Riverboat, the Ayapua, in the company of highly-respected Amazon biologist Dr. Richard Bodmer and his crew.

- as an added bonus, the group also had time in Iquitos, staying at the Casa Morey Hotel; and some had the chance to visit the Belen Floating Market and Pilpuntuwasi Butterfly Farm and Animal Orphanage

Here is some of what they wrote about their experience:

'The Amazon trip was amazing. The information about the forest, animals and effects of climate change were very interesting.

The boat was a unique and comfortable experience, it was a great feeling being part of its history.

The Captain and his team were excellent, they were knowledgable, helpful and fun; consequently I throughly enjoyed my trip on the Amazon.'

'I am back home and am glad I had the trip on your cruise: all the staff very helpful and friendly; and the talks were informative. It was a great experience and will recommend it to my friends.

Love Peru and will visit again in the future.'

Norma Phillips

'Enjoyed the Amazon Rainforest Cruise. Casa Morey was beautiful and comfortable. Staff helpful and friendly. Ramon was exceptional, trying to deal with all our needs. Richard, Tula and William [biologists on the Ayapua] very enthusiastic and interesting.

The Ayapua is a beautiful boat. It was great to be living on a bit if history for a few days. Staff on board were hardworking, polite and helpful ... The rooms were comfortable.

The transects were interesting. I preferred the boat transects because they were more comfortable (less heat & mud) and I saw more of the wildlife.'

'I am only too happy to let you know what a great trip I had. The Ayapua was a super boat on which to travel and to be involved in the research being undertaken was a treat. Richard is a wealth of knowledge and the crew looked after us so well. I do think Richard might need some help on the commercial side of things; a great guy but too generous for his own good!!!

All in all a fabulous trip ... Please keep Richard and his boat on your list - it was simply great'

'This StuVac Seminar was up there with the best we have done. Extremely useful lecture content by E/Prof Gwen Jull; fabulous trip with the help of Rainforest Cruises; and a beautifully restored historic boat, the Ayapua, from which to see the Amazon ...

... I think there is enormous potential for combining seminar and holiday using this boat and hotel.

The touring company you use is excellent, as are the guides.'
