Daniel– Travel Specialist
Growing up spending much of his time exploring the forests of his mountainous hometown on foot or by bike, Dan always had a strong sense of adventure. So after a few years of working in the local trades, he decided it was time to have a go at an international backpacking trip, and headed off to Europe for a few months. He has never forgotten the initial sense of adventure he felt when he first arrived and realised he was on his own in a foreign land full of exciting new challenges. Since then he has spent much of his time living and traveling in different parts of North America, while working mostly in the hospitality/service industry to fund further international adventures, including to Southeast Asia and Japan among other destinations.
Ever since the first trips abroad, trying his luck with foreign phrase books and dictionaries, he felt the desire to become fluent in other languages. He eventually decided that Spanish in particular would be a good start, and South America had much to offer while he learned it. So he set off again, traveling extensively in Peru and Chile for almost two years, visiting rock climbing destinations and pursuing other adventure sports around the continent as he became fluent in Spanish, conversant in Portuguese, and learnt a great deal about Latin American culture and history.
When he heard Rainforest Cruises was expanding, and could use someone with extensive knowledge and travel experience in South America and the Amazon, Dan knew that he couldn’t miss a great opportunity to get involved in the travel industry with such a well-regarded company, through which he could help others enjoy this beautiful continent as much as he has.
