Peru Tour Review: Machu Picchu, Zafiro Amazon Cruise and Lima
I really want to thank you for putting together a terrific trip. Considering all the logistics that had to be in place for this trip (drivers, guides, hotels, etc.), it went very smoothly. The guides in the Sacred Valley and Cusco (Melvin), and on Machu Picchu (Pasqual) were incredible. We really appreciated having guides that were local and could convey native history and perspectives with so much expertise.
The detailed travel itinerary you sent us was very helpful throughout our trip. Thank you for arranging the hotel walking distance from the airport on our last night in Lima. We were so tired, I don't think we could have managed an off site hotel at that point!
The accommodations during our trip were quite good. We loved Sanctuary Lodge (though stay away from room 16-- it was just too small-- We had to take turns in the bathroom area and getting dressed). My sister's adjacent room was just fine. We loved the food there and the easy access to the ruins.
We also LOVED Sol Y Luna and the adjacent ranch for lunch. Great accommodations and food, providing a lovely atmosphere to just relax some at the midpoint of our trip in the Sacred Valley.
The Ramada in Cusco was so-so. Rooms were fine but the breakfast was sub par. The half day guided tour in Cusco was perfect.
While the travel time to board the boat to the Amazon was an all day affair, the Amazon portion of our trip was truly wonderful. So much more than just a beautiful boat! We loved all the "expeditions" and especially loved visiting families in a village and visiting the school. The staff on the Zafiro Amazon Cruise were fantastic as was our Guide, Juan Carlos. In addition to school supplies, I would include the suggestion of elementary level story books in Spanish.
All in all, you put together a terrific trip to Peru for the four of us. I will recommend [Rainforest Cruises] travel services for sure! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
