Overview
The Agua Marina is a large ship filled with modern amenities and traditional style. From its dock in the Peruvian town of Nauta, just 60 miles from the Iquitos, the capital of Peru’s Maynas Province and Loreto Region, the ship offers a multitude of charter options, from four- to eight-day itineraries to the wildlife-rich, protected Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, as well as two unique eight-day itineraries for birdwatchers or for those wishing to visit the Tres Fronteras (Three Frontiers) region where Peru meets Colombia and Brazil.
Life Aboard The Agua Marina
The magic begins the moment you step aboard the Agua Marina. Settle into your stateroom, complete with air conditioning, plush bedding, and locally sourced furnishings. Among the 14 cabins, there are two Presidential Suites and two Master Suites, which offer extra space, elevated style, and unobstructed river views.
The ship, which was built in 2019, welcomes up to 28 passengers, all of whom you can meet in several social areas. Head to the top deck of the 139-foot ship to soak in the Jacuzzi. Then, pick up a glass of wine or a glass of fresh fruit juice from the bar and cool off in the indoor lounge. If your explorations of the Amazon haven’t provided enough exercise, the onboard gym will help you work up a sweat. Or skip the workout and book an appointment at the onboard spa for a relaxing massage.
At mealtime, take a seat in the dining room and enjoy chef-created meals of Amazonian cuisine with a western twist. End the day with a bit of stargazing from the observation deck. Whatever your day entails, every need will be attended to by an 18-member crew.
Excursions From Your Agua Marina Cruise
An exciting array of itineraries along the Amazon River and its tributaries allow you to select the cruise that best fits your travel schedule, with longer itineraries providing time to cruise deeper into the Amazon rainforest and increase your chances of spotting reclusive wildlife. There are even special birding itineraries for keen birders.
Two expert English-speaking guides lead a variety of activities designed to allow you to interact with the wildlife and people of the Amazon. Explore the Nauta Caño Creek, either by kayak or aboard a skiff boat equipped with an outboard motor, and look for monkeys and rare birds. Then, visit a local village to learn about hunting, fishing, and farming traditions.
Take a walk through the rainforest after dark to observe frogs, bats, and other animals’ nocturnal habits. At the confluence of the Marañon and Ucayali rivers, you will have a chance to see the famous pink river dolphins. You’ll even be able to visit the Manatee Rescue Centre.
Family-Friendly Adventure
Finding a getaway that is engaging and appropriate for the whole family can be challenging. But, an Agua Marina cruise could be the answer. The ship has no age limit for charters and welcomes little ones aboard. It’s even possible to have a rollaway bed installed in the Presidential and Master Suites allowing for triple occupancy, and there are two pairs of interconnectable cabins which are great for families. Plus, a family cruise aboard the Agua Marina is a learning opportunity disguised as an adventure since young explorers love getting to know the animals and plants of the Amazon.
Whether you are a family of eager explorers or are already knowledgeable on the area’s flora and fauna, the Amazon always has something new to offer. What will the rainforest reveal on your Agua Marina cruise?
Itineraries & Prices
All itineraries are subject to change due to seasonal weather conditions (and resultant variations in river and tributary water levels) affecting accessibility to locations. Thus navigation routes, times and excursions may need to be modified at the cruise captain’s or your guide's discretion.
