Amazon Cruises During the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil

  |   Brazil

Olympic Amazon Cruises

The Olympics are coming! After hosting the FIFA World Cup with great success in 2014, Brazil, and specifically Rio de Janeiro, excitedly awaits its next chance to shine by hosting the next biggest sporting event on the planet, the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. The exuberant city is known for its love of soccer, samba, and beautiful beaches. Ready to welcome visitors with open arms, Rio de Janeiro will have much more to offer than just the games. Even in just a few days, tourists can get a taste of the city's vibrant spirit, whether it be by taking in the impressive vistas from the ever-watchful and iconic Christ the Redeemer Statue or simply by relaxing on her sparkling beaches while sipping from a coconut or cocktail glass.

Many visitors will take this opportunity to explore the other delights the vast country of Brazil has to offer, especially given that not all of the Olympic action will be restricted to Rio. For example, the Olympic Soccer will be hosted all around the country in many of the stadiums used for the World Cup.

Visiting the Amazon Rainforest is on many people's 'Bucket List', and luckily the Amazonian city of Manaus will be hosting three Olympic soccer matches in their spectacular Arena da Amazônia. The first soccer match in Manaus to kickoff the Olympics will be held on August 4, a day before the opening ceremony in Rio on August 5. The city will also host matches on August 7 and 9. All matches are part of the group stage of this popular Olympic event.

Manaus is the capital and largest city of the state of Amazonas, in Brazil, situated at the confluence of the rivers Negro and Solimões (the 'Meeting of the Waters'), making it the perfect starting point for an Amazon River Tour. We've put together a list of our cruises that will be departing during the Olympic Games. Brazil Amazon cruises are available aboard a range of boats, each with unique characteristics and itineraries. Browse through our selection below and let the games begin!
