Delfin I Amazon Cruise - Peru's Luxury Boutique Riverboat
| Cruise Tips
Today we are profiling one of our favorite vessels, the Delfin I. The Delfin I Amazon Cruise is the only luxury, boutique vessel navigating the northern Amazon near Iquitos, Peru. The Delfin is not the only luxury-class river cruise available, but its intimate characteristics and tasteful design render this boat our best choice for travelers looking for a true boutique tour of the Amazon River.
The Delfin was completely refurbished in November of 2010. It was previously used as an Amazon Riverboat, but when its sister ship, Delfin II, was launched, the owners decided to rebuild the first ship, creating what is now the upper Amazon's premier expedition cruiser. This vessel is ideal for passengers with distinguished taste, interested in an intimate adventure experience. Having only four suites (2 deluxe and 2 master), the Delfin can comfortably carry 8 passengers on either 3 or 4 night itineraries to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.
Upper and lower deck suites are spacious, with 360 square feet of lavishly decorated space, all with 180° views of the awe-inspiring Amazon Rainforest. The Delfin's luxury suites include unique amenities such as full king size beds, mini bar, in-room seating area, silent a/c units, hot water, hair dryer, in-room safe, and internal communication. Each suite includes a private terrace where travelers can enjoy passing Amazonian landscape in comfort.
The lounge and bar area are exceptional, offering a wide range of local and international drinks all prepared by highly-trained staff. Tropical designs and an open structure add to the allure of this part of the ship, creating a welcoming and peaceful environment from which to enjoy majestic Amazonian sunsets. After a long day exploring Amazonian tributaries, it is customary to kick-back and relax with a refreshing cocktail, truly the most rewarding part of any Amazon riverboat cruise.
The dining room aboard Delfin Amazon cruise offers an unrivaled level of sophistication, and the luxury of tasting simple and natural products. Peruvian cuisine is considered one of the world's finest, and reflects the country's cultural diversity. The Amazon's wild choice of fresh ingredients and the gentle blend of immigrant traditions, have created one of earth's most unique culinary experiences. All meals aboard your Amazon cruise are included. Bon Appetit!
We cannot end our story of the Amazon River adventure aboard Delfin I without touching upon the quality of the excursions. A major advantage of Amazon exploration in small groups is the increased possibility of spotting wildlife. Owing to the limited capacity of Delfin I, groups are small and manageable, enabling the expert, naturalist guides to pinpoint the location of an array of flora and fauna. Peru's Amazon is among the most biologically diverse on the planet, and with your soon-to-be-friends aboard the Delfin I, you are sure to enjoy memorable moments observing them in their natural habitat.
Excursions depart daily, with one in the morning and one in the afternoon, in order to avoid the heat of the midday Amazon sun. After enjoying an exquisite breakfast, guides escort passengers to the smaller expedition craft (lanchas) which are used to explore deep into the protected tributaries of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.
