This shorter cruise packs a punch with visits to the most revered sites of Mandalay, the former royal city, and the awe-inspiring temples of Bagan. 

 

From the charming riverside town of Myin Mu to breathtaking Bagan, savour the sights of this mesmerising country as you cruise the Irrawaddy River. Cruise through Mandalay to

breathtaking Bagan, cruise along the Irrawaddy River aboard Belmond Road to Mandalay, soaking up unforgettable sights and immersing yourself in inspiring activities.

The itinerary below is dependent on the river water level, weather conditions, and accessibility to locations, so touring may vary. Please note that there are two slightly modified itineraries, one for months between January – March and the other September – January. 


January – March

Mandalay Cruise Itinerary

Day 1 – Mandalay

Check-in at a local restaurant in Mandalay where you will enjoy a traditional lunch.

After lunch there is a choice of tours available. The first option will take you to witness some of Mandalay’s traditional arts, continuing on to visit the ancient capital of Amarapura, the famous U Bein Bridge and the Sagaing hills. Alternatively board a chartered boat at Htin-Win Jetty for a scenic cruise, accompanied by complimentary refreshments, to meet Belmond Road to Mandalay in Myin Mu.

Dine on Asian and Western cuisine in the elegant Restaurant, enjoying our excellent house wines or selecting an international label from our extensive list.

 

Yangon Myanmar Tour

Day 2 – Myin Mu

Stretch out and relax at an early-morning yoga session, followed by a refreshing treat from our Healthy Juice Bar.

This morning disembark to explore Myin Mu, beginning with a traditional almsgiving ceremony. Then board trishaws for a ride around town, visiting a local market and learning about the area’s small cottage industries.

Return to the ship for lunch as your journey continues towards Bagan.

Take an afternoon at leisure, making the most of the spa facilities or unwinding beside the pool. Activities available include two fascinating lectures, an astrology reading, and a longyi-tying lesson. Savour a traditional afternoon tea on our onboard ‘Burmese Tea Shop’ experience.

This evening dress in your longyi for our cocktail party, followed by another delicious dinner in the Restaurant.

 

Irrawaddy River Tour

Day 3 – Bagan, Old Bagan

Wake early this morning for sunrise yoga or meditation classes as the ship sails into Bagan.

A range of tour options is available today. “Introduction to Bagan” explores the temples and history of the area, “A Day in the Life” explores local culture, food and markets, and “Bagan by Bicycle” offers an action-packed tour for those seeking adventure.

Before rejoining the ship for lunch, stroll through the small village that is home to Belmond’s private jetty near Old Bagan. You may wish to visit Belmond’s free clinic, where our onboard doctor will be treating local patients.

In the afternoon visit Ananda, one of Bagan’s most magnificent temples. Continue your tour as you explore an off-the-beaten-track temple by torchlight. End your visit by savouring a spectacular sunset across the plains.

Dine under the stars at the Road to Mandalay Grill on the Observation Deck, before enjoying a classic marionette performance.

 

Day 4 – Bagan, Hot Air Balloon Excursion

For an additional supplement, early risers can take a sunrise hot-air balloon flight over the pagodas.

Enjoy a last early-bird breakfast on board before disembarking from Belmond Road to Mandalay for your onward travel arrangements.


September – January

Road to Mandalay Cruise

Day 1 – Shwe Kyet Village, Mandalay

Board the ship at Shwe Kyet Yet village near Mandalay.

Enjoy an afternoon discovering the city's key sites and traditional arts, including a visit to a family of bronze casters.

Dine on Asian and Western cuisine in the elegant Restaurant, enjoying our excellent house wines or selecting an international label from our extensive list.

 

Bagan Myanmar Tour

Day 2 – Bagan

Stretch out and relax at an early-morning yoga session, followed by a refreshing treat from our Healthy Juice Bar.

Join a Buddhist almsgiving ceremony and experience village life near our jetty before the ship sets sail.

Alight in Ava to explore the ancient capital. Take a traditional horse and cart tour or discover the sights by bike.

As the ship sails to Bagan, enjoy a range of onboard activities. Attend a talk on Myanmar culture, sample local infusions in our Burmese Tea Shop, learn how to dress in a traditional longyi or have your fortune told by an astrologer.

You can also indulge in a treatment at the spa, work out in the gym or relax by the pool on the Observation Deck, the largest outdoor space of any river cruiser in Myanmar.

Day 3 – Ananda Temple, Old Bagan

Rise early to attend a soothing meditation session before the ship arrives in Bagan.

A range of tour options is available today. Choose from “Introduction to Bagan” for temples and history, “A Day in the Life” for local culture, food and markets, or “Bagan by Bicycle” for those seeking with a taste for action and adventure.

The touring is active, so all participants should be in good health. Due to the rural location, handicapped accessibility is not available in Myanmar (Burma).
