DAY 1: IQUITOS - TREEHOUSE LODGE - NIGHT WALK
Our Peru Amazon tour begins with a warm welcome at Iquitos airport. From there, we will be transferred some 2.5 hours to the Treehouse Lodge, set in a 345-acre pristine jungle reserve. Unique in its construction, high up in the rainforest canopy, this extraordinary lodge will provide unrivalled views of the rainforest and its wildlife. This evening we take to the jungle on a night walk for a close encounter with the many creatures that come out to feed. (Meals - D)
DAY 2: BIRDWATCHING - JUNGLE WALK
The suspension bridges and platforms of the Treehouse Lodge have been perfectly designed to allow you to appreciate the incredible wildlife of the canopy. Wake up early to the sound of hundreds of monkeys and birds, including many species of tanagers, toucans and parrots. In the afternoon, head out on jungle walks to see the nearby giant water lilies, track down the colorful (and pungent) Hoatzin birds and search for the big-eyed Night Monkeys. (Meals - B, L, D)
DAY 3: JIBARO COMMUNITY VISIT - IQUITOS
In the morning, we can discover what life is like for the indigenous people of the Amazon with a visit to the local Jibaro community. We will learn how they build their dugout canoes and experience their traditional way of fishing and hunting with bows and arrows and blow darts. Before heading back to Iquitos to catch our return flight, we will enjoy a picnic lunch at the chief’s house. (Meals - B, L)
