Rio & Iguazu Falls

Experience the thundering majesty of Iguazu Falls and the vibrant soul of Rio de Janeiro.

Overview

This bespoke eight-day journey bridges the gap between the raw, primordial power of nature and the rhythmic pulse of South America’s most storied city. Your odyssey begins at Iguazu Falls, a Natural Wonder of the World that defies description. Spanning the border of Brazil and Argentina, these 270 separate cascades create a landscape of “waterfall showers” and permanent rainbows set against a backdrop of emerald rainforest.

From the thundering cascades, you will fly to Rio de Janeiro, “The Marvelous City.” Here, the significance lies in the seamless blend of urban energy and ecological grandeur. You will explore the historic colonial heart of the city, climb to the feet of the iconic Christ the Redeemer, and immerse yourself in the local rhythm—from riding the historic bondinho tram in Santa Teresa to stepping into the Art Nouveau elegance of the Confeitaria Colombo.

This curated experience is designed for the spirited explorer who seeks to go beyond the typical “tourist” path and revels in Brazil’s living story. As you stand before the vastness of the falls or look out over the glittering lights of Guanabara Bay, you will feel a profound sense of connection to some of Earth’s most extraordinary and iconic landscapes. This itinerary is perfect for those who crave a transformative blend of adrenaline-fueled discovery and sophisticated cultural immersion, leaving you with the quiet confidence of one who has truly touched the soul of South America.

Early this morning, after breakfast, the adventure continues! You will head out to discover a Natural Wonder of the World: Iguazu Falls. Today, you will enjoy a private guided tour of the Brazilian side of the falls, situated within the stunning Iguazu National Park.

Spanning over three kilometers and plunging 80 meters into the river below, these falls are wider than Victoria Falls and higher than Niagara. As you walk along the trail, you will be treated to amazing panoramic views of the waterfalls, often decorated with rainbows from the never-ending spray. The highlight of the day is the frontal view of the Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat)—the most powerful spot in the park.

Today, the excitement reaches new heights! You will go from Foz do Iguaçu, crossing the Tancredo Neves Bridge over the Iguazu River to arrive at Argentina’s Iguazu National Park.

Upon arrival, you will board a small train to the first stop: the ominously named Devil’s Throat (Garganta del Diablo). Standing at over 262 feet, this is the largest and most impressive waterfall in the complex. Having soaked up the enormity of the Devil’s Throat, your guide will lead you along the wooden walkways of both the Upper and Lower circuits. These trails, built on raised platforms to protect the natural jungle habitat, navigate through the verdant landscape and offer secluded, unimaginable views of the 270 separate waterfalls that make up this Natural Wonder.

But the adventure is not over yet! When the walking tour concludes, prepare to be immersed in the jungle—literally. You will travel by 4-wheel drive vehicle to the Puerto Macuco forestry base. From there, the journey continues by boat, maneuvering up the river to the base of the falls. Surrounded by glowing rainbows and adrenaline, you will get close enough for an unforgettable “waterfall shower”!
