Juan Pablo
Destination Specialist

Hi, my name is Juan Pablo, but everyone calls me JP. I have worked as a destination specialist at Rainforest Cruises since 2019, and I specialize in all destinations across South America, from the Galapagos Islands to the Amazon, all the way down to Patagonia.

As an artisan of adventure travel, I believe everyone should consider an expedition-style cruise. They let you experience places far removed from civilization and technology, allowing you to connect with nature in a profound way. In destinations like the Galapagos and the Amazon especially, you’ll get to experience the power of nature in pristine areas with little influence from modern society.

When I was recently in the Amazon, I was able to connect with indigenous peoples who have lived in harmony with the environment for centuries. In the Galapagos, you get to experience not just the history of civilization, but the history of the planet itself, where you can see for yourself the unique animals and plants that inspired Darwin’s theory of evolution.

I’ve been friends with, our director, Jeremy—who I met during a trip to Tambopata in the Peruvian Amazon—for many years, and I love working in travel with my teammates from all corners of the world as we all share a passion for creating amazing experiences for every traveler that contacts us. We are aware that each trip is a unique, lifetime experience, whether you are a solo traveler, a honeymooner, or a family.

When you work with me, you can expect my full attention to detail from the moment we connect. My message to future travelers is simple: we are a company of passionate travelers who have been to these amazing places ourselves. Trust us to listen to your needs and expectations to curate the perfect travel experience for you.

One Tip I Always Share

No matter which destination you choose, bring binoculars!—that’s the only way to see all the different species up close, because you get really close but not zoo-close.

My Wild Refuge

Galapagos
Galapagos. Because of its uniqueness both in terms of scenery and wildlife. My favorite landscape is found at Fernandina Island, specifically the area with volcanic lava soil where we were able to hike and explore. You can even feel the hot temperature of the soil when you walk on them which was a breathtaking experience. I also enjoyed the clear views of the stars at night which is only possible to see from remote and dark areas without artificial lights like Galapagos.

An Encounter I’ll Never Forget

Snorkeling With Sea Turtles
Snorkeling with turtles and wildlife in the Galapagos. I love swimming and all water-based sports and activities and Galapagos offers the chance of snorkeling with beautiful animals close by in their natural habitats which is priceless.

On My Horizon

Patagonia (& Antarctica)
Patagonia in the south of Argentina and Chile, both in terms of visiting and doing hikes and excursions and also doing a cruise. Antarctica is a another destination that is one of the major ones I would say on the planet. That's also on my list.
