Remota Patagonia

A striking hotel set on the shores of Última Esperanza Sound in the wilds of Chilean Patagonia.

Overview

Perched gracefully above the Última Esperanza Sound, just moments away from Puerto Natales, Hotel Remota Patagonia is an architectural gem that seamlessly integrates with the breathtaking Patagonian landscape and draws inspiration from the region’s traditional estancia sheep sheds and pre-Inca art.

Designed by award-winning architect Germán del Sol, the lodge is a captivating blend of tradition and ecological design, whose every detail—from its wood paneled exterior and sustainable eco-roof, to its floor-to-ceiling windows and open plan interior with chic indoor campfires that waft around wood smoke—has been carefully considered to maximize your connection with the magnificent natural surroundings.

Elegant Rooms

Hotel Remota’s bedrooms similarly boast wall-to-wall panoramic windows that invite natural light and offer captivating views. Lenga wood accents create an atmosphere that brings the forest indoors. Each of the 72 rooms is generously sized at 33 square meters, with flexible bed configurations, including double, twin, or triple options for families.

Ensuite bathrooms boast spacious bathtubs with granite tiles and invigorating overhead showers. Bathrobes and slippers are provided, along with a hairdryer and laundry service. While Wi-Fi is available in the rooms, the signal may be intermittent at times.

Culinary Excellence

Hotel Remota’s cuisine is simply divine. The à la carte menu showcases creative, gourmet dishes inspired by the region, emphasizing locally sourced ingredients to create delicate, well-balanced flavors. From guanaco carpaccio to grilled grouper on creamy polenta, the menu offers a range of imaginative options. Vegetarian choices abound, and the chef gladly accommodates dietary preferences.

Breakfast presents a delightful buffet of savory and sweet treats, while the bar offers a tempting array of cocktails and wines. The bartender is your guide to local libations, crafting the perfect cocktail to suit your tastes, whether it’s the classic Pisco Sour or a personalized variation.

Unforgettable Excursions

Hotel Remota offers three comprehensive, all-inclusive programs designed to maximize your Patagonian experience. Whether you seek a leisurely pace, thrilling adventures, or the art of fly fishing, there’s a program to suit your preferences. All excursions are led by expert guides and take place within Torres del Paine National Park or on exclusive private properties, ensuring an exclusive experience for guests.

  • Soft Excursions: Ideal for all ages, this program offers relaxing excursions and gentle trekking routes, boat trips along the Ultima Esperanza Fjord, visits to local estancias, and cycling adventures in and around Puerto Natales.
  • Adventure Excursions: For the more adventurous souls, this program includes mountain biking, kayaking, rock climbing, off-the-beaten-track hiking, and horseback riding, as well as access to the Soft Program’s offerings.
  • Fly-fishing: Remota is also the only hotel in Magallanes region to have an official ORVIS license to operate fly fishing tours in Southern Chilean Patagonia. The program is very flexible and includes daily fishing activities with an experienced fishing guide to every two clients.

Relaxation and Wellness

After a day of adventures, unwind in the hotel’s outdoor jacuzzis, providing a truly relaxing experience. Alternatively, savor a captivating sunset from the heated indoor infinity pool or the comfortable loungers surrounding it. Separate male and female saunas are available, and the spa, nestled in a separate building down a serene path from the main hotel for that extra bit of tranquility, offers a range of treatments for an additional fee.

Itineraries & Prices

All itineraries are subject to change due to seasonal weather conditions (and resultant variations in river and tributary water levels) affecting accessibility to locations. Thus navigation routes, times and excursions may need to be modified at the cruise captain’s or your guide's discretion.

Horseback Ride & The Three Caves

Today is a sample itinerary that includes a selection of the explorations on offer at Remota Patagonia Lodge. This day is completely customizable.

AM: Heading out from Remota, it takes about a 30-minute drive to get to a traditional Patagonian ranch. We will be welcomed by a ‘Gaucho’ (Cowboy) who will take you on a ride through the Patagonian landscape, where you will see magnificent views of cliffs sculpted by glaciers and natural rock viewpoints, formed by wind erosion. In this imposing but spectacular environment, we will take a well-deserved break to share some ‘mate’; a traditional hot tea beverage of Patagonia.

Milodon is an extinct genus of giant ground sloth that lived in Patagonia until roughly 10,000 years ago.
