Explora Patagonia

Sustainable, conservation-focused lodge with an intimate atmosphere and privileged Patagonia access.

Overview

Spanning portions of both Chile and Argentina, Patagonia is rich in history, wildlife, and natural wonders. Such a fascinating destination call for deep, immersive exploration. Explora Patagonia National Park, located in the Valle Chacabuco sector, is ideally positioned as a home base for your discovery of the region.

Life at Hotel Explora Patagonia

Explora Patagonia was originally built by the Tomkins foundation, a conservation organization with a mission of confronting the crises of climate chaos and collapsing ecosystems. Conservation remains a crucial part of every aspect of life at Hotel Explora Patagonia, and the lodge was designed to blend in and limit interference with the natural environment.

The lodge’s rustic beauty, created with copper roofs, recycled wood, and stones from local quarries, blends seamlessly with the surrounding Tamango and Tamanguito hills. These hills provide mesmerizing views from each of the eight standard rooms and two suites. Thanks to king-sized beds, interconnecting rooms, and available cribs and children’s beds, the entire family can feel at home here.

Excursions from Explora Patagonia National Park

To truly experience the spirit of Patagonia, you will need the expertise of an experienced guide. At Explora Patagonia, you will work with a highly-trained guide to design your own bespoke journey. Each evening, select from a wide range of explorations to fill the following day. This one-of-a-kind process allows you to tailor your excursions to your evolving interests.

Excursions, including hiking, horseback rides, and cultural activities, are available for every difficulty level, from easy to expert. However you choose to roam, all the breathtaking scenery of Patagonia National Park, including the grasslands, sprawling steppe, and waterways, will be yours to discover. And, you can explore to your heart’s content without worrying over your wallet because all of your excursions, as well as meals, are included in your stay. As with all other aspects of the lodge, conservation and education are built into the hotel’s exploration activities.

Gastronomy at Explora Patagonia

Food is dear to the heart and soul of Patagonia. Embracing the region’s culinary traditions, Explora Patagonia worked with famed Argentinian chef Pablo Jesús Rivero to create a menu that highlights the local gaucho culture. The chef, whose “Don Julio” was named as the Best Restaurant in Latin America in 2020, designed a range of dishes featuring fresh, local ingredients sourced from small producers. The asado barbeque, which is cooked over a wood fire, must be tasted to be believed. Finish off your meal with a stop at the bar for a glass of wine or a hand-crafted pisco sour.

Whether you are discovering Patagonia for the first time, or if this place already holds a special place in your heart, you will find something new to love at Explora Patagonia National Park. This offering, from industry experts with over 25 years of experience in crafting authentic travel experiences, offers an in-depth look into the culture and landscapes of Patagonia.
