Untamed Amazon

A unique, upscale vessel offering exclusive eco-friendly Amazon exploration and first-class service.

Overview

The Untamed Amazon is a uniquely-designed vessel that challenges what a riverboat should be. By combining five-star accommodations with unparalleled service and custom-built routes, Untamed Amazon creates an elegant, one-of-a-kind experience for charter groups of up to 16 passengers.

Life Aboard The Untamed Amazon

As you board the Untamed Amazon, the upper level, which serves as the ship’s soul, will draw you in. You will find a spacious lounge and dining room surrounded by panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows on this refined deck. In the full commercial kitchen, international chefs use modern techniques to create world-class cuisine from local ingredients. During meals, or as you desire, sip fine wines from a temperature-controlled cellar, specialty beers, and Brazilian caipirinha cocktails crafted from fresh fruits, all of which are included in the package pricing.

The stars of the level are the two massive Jacuzzi tubs, which accommodate up to 10 people. Have a soak and then retire to the main floor, which is home to eight air-conditioned staterooms. The remoteness and tranquility of the Amazon invite you to disconnect from the rest of the world, but the Untamed Amazon does provide ways to plug back in. Should you require them, satellite phones and Internet service are available at an additional cost.

Excursions From Your Untamed Amazon Cruise

If you can tear yourself away from the luxury of the ship, a four-day itinerary or a custom-built route provides ample opportunities to disembark and explore the region. The classic Takanu cruise starts in Manaus, sails around the Solimões River’s wetlands, and explores the dry jungle areas surrounding the Negro River.

Along the way, you will have opportunities to fish for piranhas, take land and small boat-based photo safaris, and observe pink dolphins. You may also visit the rubber plantation museum to learn about the history of the rubber trade in Brazil. A highlight of the trip is sitting on a large, sandy beach to watch the sun set over the river.

The team behind Untamed Amazon believes that equitable partnership with the indigenous communities of the Amazon is a crucial way to help their legacy flourish. In that spirit, you may have the opportunity to visit the Tuyukas or other native villages. During these excursions, the people of the Amazon will share their heritage and traditions.

If you are passionate about sport fishing, the Untamed Amazon also travels deep into the jungle for fly-fishing expeditions.

Focus On Environmental Stewardship

The Untamed Amazon is dedicated to protecting the Amazon’s watershed and the people that call the area home. To that end, the ship uses solar power for 100% of its electrical needs. An innovative solar panel system, lithium batteries, and inverters are responsible for creating Untamed Amazon’s electricity.

Additionally, the team has eliminated the usage of plastic water bottles by partnering with YETI to provide guests with reusable thermal containers. A sophisticated filtration and three separate purification processes utilizing chlorination, ozone, and UV light turn river water into drinking water.

For small groups seeking to engage in responsible, eco-friendly tourism in an elegant, upscale fashion, Untamed Amazon awaits.
