Amatista

A charming, authentic riverboat offering intimate, immersive Amazon exploration with modern comforts.

Overview

The Amatista is a classic expedition-style riverboat that combines authentic Amazonian craftsmanship with modern comfort. Built by local shipwrights, its warm wood interiors and classic riverboat design create an inviting sense of place. With just 15 air-conditioned, river-view cabins, including a rare triple cabin ideal for families, the vessel accommodates a maximum 29 passengers, ensuring an intimate experience.

Life On Board

Social spaces encourage both relaxation and discovery. Guests can soak in panoramic jungle views from the open observation deck or unwind in hammocks with a cocktail from the bar. The interior lounge doubles as a cozy reading nook and lecture room, where naturalist guides prepare you for the adventures ahead. Dining is a flavorful journey in itself, with buffet-style meals crafted from fresh Amazonian ingredients and accompanied by regional drinks, including complimentary wine, beer, or soda with lunch and dinner.

Life aboard is brought alive with engaging activities. Guests can take part in pisco sour classes, Amazonian fruit tastings, readings from the Amazon, and live music nights. For younger travelers, the Amatista is especially welcoming. Children are invited to join Mini Chef sessions, towel-folding workshops, wildlife-spotting games, art activities, and receive a “Young Explorer Alpha” diploma at the end of their voyage, making it a wonderful option for family adventure. The private port in Nauta City ensures smooth, secure embarkation and disembarkation, with a festive welcome of live music and fresh juice setting the tone for the journey ahead.

Itinerary Options and Excursions

The Amatista offers three- and six-night itineraries navigating deep into the headwaters of the Amazon and the wildlife-rich Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve. Seasonal water levels dictate the balance of activities: during high water (December–May), skiff rides bring guests closer to hidden lagoons and flooded forests teeming with life; in low water (June–November), more jungle walks reveal unique plants, birds, and insects.

Highlights include piranha fishing, guided canopy bridge walks, swimming in remote river stretches, and nocturnal excursions in search of caimans and night creatures. Cultural encounters bring travelers into riverside villages to meet artisans and schoolchildren, while conservation activities such as tree planting or turtle release connect guests to the Amazon’s future. A visit to the Manatee Rescue Center rounds out the journey with a heartwarming conservation story.

A Journey Into the Wild Heart of the Amazon

An Amatista voyage is a chance to journey into one of the world’s last great wildernesses, guided by experts who reveal the rainforest’s countless secrets. Whether marveling at pink river dolphins, joining children in a riverside school, or watching your own child earn their first explorer’s certificate, every day is rich with moments that will stay with you for a lifetime.

This expedition-style cruise is perfect for families seeking a meaningful shared adventure, couples yearning for authentic exploration with creature comforts, and travelers who want to feel the pride of venturing where few have gone before. Aboard the Amatista, you won’t just explore the Amazon—you’ll live it.
