View From Peru: Amatista Cruise And Sacred Valley
| Amatista
Here is what Elaine Rubin and family thought of their recent adventure to Peru that included the 4-day Amatista Amazon cruise and a land tour to the Sacred Valley:
"Hi Jeremy,
All in all, we were very satisfied with the travel arrangements you made for us, and will be telling our friends and family how to get in touch with you. I’ll begin with the things that impressed us the most:
We were guided through every transition, all the way through. That was a tremendous help to us. The guides provided were excellent in their knowledge, their English speaking skills, and each had a particularly noteworthy trait. Ana Maria, whenever we were approached by someone trying to sell us something, had a wonderful way of deflecting them in the most calm and respectful manner.
As for Pasqual, we can’t praise him enough. Howard struggled right from the beginning at Machu Picchu. Pasqual gave him his walking stick to help him along. At some point, Howard seemed to lose all color in his face, and I wanted him to turn back and wait for us on the bench near the entrance. When I told this to Pasqual, he took Howard’s backpack and carried it himself, allowing Howard to keep up and complete the tour. Pasqual even made a gift to Howard of the walking stick.
All the hotels were quite nice, but the Hotel Arqueologo, in Cusco was wonderful. The staff were so accommodating. For example, when they learned we had a 5:20 a.m. pick up on our last morning, they told us to go to the bar at 5:00, and they would provide a breakfast for us. It’s a beautiful setting; the breakfast provided was good and plentiful; and everyone was welcoming.
The experience of the river boat, La Amatista, will never be forgotten. The crew were all personable, tried their best to make things work for each of us, and were always smiling and thanking us for choosing the Amatista. The two guides, Hulber and Oscar, were also very knowledgeable, spoke good English, and did all they could to involve all of us in activities. Entertainment (four crew members who make up quite a respectable band) was warm and wonderful. It was a thoroughly enjoyable cruise, fire ants and all.
Thank you again."
