Overview
Discover the Mekong River in sumptuous luxury aboard the Jahan, which moves majestically along the lower Mekong between Vietnam and Cambodia. Indian architecture and art influenced the cultures of the Mekong Delta until around the 15th century, and this inspired the design of this British-Indian colonial-styled riverboat. Aboard, you can enjoy all the five-star services of the finest hotel.
Your Accommodation
The ship accommodates 52 guests in 26 cabins including two suites. All have floor-to-ceiling windows that allow for plenty of light, and an unrestricted view of the river’s vibrant beauty; all have en-suite bathrooms and private balconies.
Characterized by soft-hued wood and colonial-style furnishings, each cabin is imbued with a timeless grace that harks back to the golden age of cruising yet with all of the modern conveniences of the 21st century, including a music entertainment system and a well-stocked mini bar. The suites have their own private jacuzzis for a relaxing soak after a day of culture, cuisine and sightseeing, as well as the services of a personal butler.
Life On Board
The atmospheric East India Club & Lounge resembles an old British-Indian gentlemen’s club, with inlaid furniture and Sanskrit carvings. The Observatory is an indoor lounge with panoramic windows, while the adjacent Sun Deck beckons with its pool. If you’re looking for peace and quiet and maybe a game of chess, the intimate lounge, positioned aft, will be your retreat.
The Raj of India Lobby Lounge is another nod to the days of colonial India, decorated in cream and gold and furnished with comfy sofas, armchairs and Indian lamps. It is also home to the reception desk and library.
Meals are served in the Viceroy Dining Hall, where the chef will spoil you with creative Vietnamese and Cambodian culinary delights and international cuisine, incorporating fresh and natural ingredients in a mix of buffets and set menus. Alternatively, you can surprise your partner with a romantic candlelit dinner served in the Observatory Lounge. A daily highlight in the dining hall is the traditional afternoon tea.
Activities On The Jahan
Wake up early and welcome the day with a Tai Chi session on the deck while surveying the already-busy river. Soak up some rays on the open Top Deck beside the mosaic tiled pool and jacuzzi, or detox in the steam bath. The fitness room is equipped with several cardio machines if you wish to work out, or you can allow yourself to be pampered in the spa. Elsewhere, on-board presentations and cultural seminars are sure to fire you up for the adventures ahead.
Every day will bring new experiences ashore, with guests treated to an array of small group cultural and historical excursions. Those seeking a more private and exclusive experience can book up to three private excursions per trip. More active guests can also take advantage of the six professional bicycles available for cycling amid the fields and villages. Your guides are always happy to share their knowledge, so be sure to ask about anything that sparks your curiosity.
When you return from your daily tours, you can deepen your experience with the dance shows, cooking demos, or movie nights before you retire to the privacy of your cabin.
If you’re looking for the romantic pleasure of a slow journey in opulent style, evoking the glory of the former British-India, the Jahan Cruise could well be the one for you.
The Lower Mekong River’s high-water season occurs from mid-August to November, while the low-water season spans from December to mid-August.

This island is home to several communities that sustain themselves by cultivating water hyacinths. Strolling through the village, you'll gain profound insights into local life and witness the complete traditional mat-making process. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to meet a local elderly couple who have spent their entire lives on this island. They enjoy engaging in conversations with foreign visitors.
Before dinner, join us in the lounge for a presentation about life on the Mekong Delta as the ship sails toward our mooring spot for the night near Gieng Island.

Gieng Island - Evergreen Island - Border crossing - Phnom Penh
AM: After our morning Tai Chi session and a delightful breakfast, we embark on an exploration revealing a vibrant kaleidoscope of the diverse activities bringing the Mekong Delta to life.
Gieng Island, also known locally as Mango Island, is perfect to stroll through under the shade of flourishing mango groves that shape the island’s landscape. A visit to a small incense workshop introduces us to the careful process of crafting these fragrance incense sticks by hand. Another local highlight is a traditional boat-building workshop, where generations of families assemble wooden vessels that are essential to life along the river. Before departing, we surely are going to taste some of these delicious and freshly picked mangoes with a local tea in the courtyard of a century-old local home. This is the moment when we all understand the rhythms and resilience of life on the Mekong - so simple, so joyful.
PM: After lunch, board a traditional sampan toward Evergreen Island, a fertile pocket of the delta known for its small-scale farms and seasonal crops. Upon arrival, spend time with a local farming family and gain insight into their daily routine. You’re invited to step into the shoes of your hosts and share in their daily work. Depending on the season, you will help prepare seedlings, plant new crops, or assist with the harvest; a rare opportunity to share the delta daily life from the inside. Much of what’s grown here is later used by our onboard chef, tying your culinary experience onboard directly to the land.
After having discovered Mekong delta’s bustling rhythm, we head towards the border. Once in Cambodia, an overnight sail takes us to the country’s capital.

Phnom Penh
AM: Welcome to Phnom Penh, a city once renowned as the "Paris of the East." Despite its rapid development, it has retained much of its rustic charm and elegance. Phnom Penh is a remarkable city with a history and culture that spans centuries, still palpable at every street corner. Our full-day sightseeing tour begins right after breakfast, allowing us to explore the city's highlights. We'll start with a cyclo ride, meandering through the town and then visit historic places such as the palace and the silver pagoda. Our journey takes us to the "S21" prison, a poignant and dark chapter in Cambodia's history during the Khmer Rouge regime of the 1970s. Afterward, we'll pause for a delightful lunch in town before continuing to visit one of the country's most famous history museums, "Sosoro," and concluding the tour with a leisurely stroll through the city's French quarter, including the iconic and aptly named monument of Wat Phnom.
PM: In the evening, we invite you to an engaging expert lecture in the lounge. To cap off this eventful day, we'll indulge in a delightful open-air barbecue and gala dinner accompanied by a classic Apsara dance performance. Afterward, feel free to explore the city at night, savoring Phnom Penh's vibrant nightlife or taking in the lively river promenade.

Phnom Penh – Kampong Laeang – Kampong Luong (Tonle River)

Once back onboard, we sail toward Kampong Luong, where we will anchor for the night.

Kampong Luong (Tonle River) - Prek Bangkong – Angkor Ban (Mekong River)
AM: Our first stop is Kampong Luong, a renowned Silver Smith Village. Here, 400 families breathe life into silver, copper, and brass, crafting art pieces and jewelry. A short stroll on the island reveals their hard labour. Continue with a visit to Wat Prang, the Royal Buddhist Temple. This sacred site offers a moment of reflection on the king’s legacy, intertwining both history and spirituality. Engage with the monks and laymen, learning about their daily lives, rituals, and personal stories.
PM: With everyone back on board, we offer a funny but also interesting fashion show to our guests about local Cambodian attire.
At the confluence of the Tonle and Mekong Rivers lies the small village of Prek Bangkong, known for its silk weaving community. This village was also the former residence of the Royal family before they moved to the Royal Palace. However, the real stars in this area today are the silk weavers, artisans who craft silk from the very beginning. We will have the opportunity to closely observe and learn about this intricate silk production process. We conclude this excursion by visiting the heritage house of H.E. Sam-El, once a famous architect for the royal family.
The rest of the day is spent sailing up the Mekong to our overnight location. Enjoy a relaxing poolside sundowner cocktail hour with dance tunes before dinner and an evening cinema
