Sea Bird & Sea Star
Overview
Step aboard Sea Bird & Sea Star and let the wind take you cruising through the inner islands of the Seychelles archipelago. These two elegant traditional sailing yachts combine the romance of a classic schooner with casual, barefoot-luxury cruising — perfect for travellers seeking both sea-borne exploration and relaxed, personalised hospitality. With weekly departures year-round, each voyage reveals pristine nature, hidden coves, and vibrant marine life in a way only a small yacht can.
Welcome Aboard
Sea Bird and Sea Star are sister sailing yachts built for cruising the Seychelles’ inner island waters with effortless grace and comfort. Sea Star is a custom-built 40-metre, three-masted schooner with five Bermuda sails, while Sea Bird is a sleek 42-metre, two-masted vessel with four sails — both rigged for smooth wind navigation among coral-fringed islands. Each yacht accommodates up to 22 guests in nine air-conditioned cabins, complete with ensuite bathrooms and modern comforts such as TV/DVD, stereo system, and laundry facilities. Social areas include a spacious salon/dining lounge, a shaded back deck for al fresco meals, and multiple sun decks for lounging, sunbathing, and island viewing.
Onboard ambience is relaxed and sociable—imagine lounging over breakfast on deck, snorkeling coral gardens by midday, and dining on Creole-inspired cuisine under a canopy of stars. A predominantly Seychellois crew ensures warm, friendly service and easygoing hospitality throughout your voyage.
Life On Board
Cabins are comfortable and practical, each with climate control and a private bathroom, while common spaces encourage gathering: the salon doubles as a lounge and dining area, and the shaded aft deck is perfect for post-swim drinks or evening conversations. Despite the classic rigging and traditional schooner profile, both yachts deliver modern conveniences and a casual luxury atmosphere — you’ll feel like you’ve joined friends on a shared adventure rather than stepped onto a typical cruise ship.
Whether you’re a snorkeller, kayaker, diver, or simply a lover of sea and scenery, the vessels carry equipment for water activities (snorkelling, kayaking, and paddleboarding), and a PADI dive instructor may be on hand for those who seek underwater exploration.
Itinerary Options & Highlight Excursions
Sea Bird & Sea Star operate weekly 8-day cruises throughout the year, departing Saturdays from Mahé and sailing across the inner Seychelles. Typical itineraries navigate from Mahé to islands such as Praslin and La Digue, uninhabited cayes and marine parks, stopping for snorkeling, diving, and nature visits. Highlights include the ancient Vallee de Mai rainforest on Praslin, world-famous Anse Source d’Argent beach on La Digue, coral snorkeling at Grande Soeur and Petite Soeur, and visits to Aride Island Nature Reserve with its abundant seabirds and endemic land birds.
Your voyage may also take you to mangrove fringes and giant tortoise farms on Curieuse Island, remote snorkel spots like Ile Seche, and marine reserve waters around the Ste Anne Marine Park — blending sea life, island ecosystems, and Seychelles heritage in one seamless cruise experience.
Crave Ocean Exploration
Imagine waking to turquoise waters lapping at the hull, stepping ashore to walk trails shaded by ancient palms, and snorkeling coral gardens teeming with fish just metres from your yacht. Aboard Sea Bird & Sea Star, you traverse the Seychelles’ inner gems in intimate style, guided by friendly local crew and served Creole cuisine that celebrates island flavours. This voyage is perfect for adventurers who crave ocean exploration, couples seeking serenity, or small groups chasing sun, sea, and rare wildlife encounters — all with the relaxed pace only a sailboat can offer.
Itineraries & Prices
All itineraries are subject to change due to seasonal weather conditions (and resultant variations in river and tributary water levels) affecting accessibility to locations. Thus navigation routes, times and excursions may need to be modified at the cruise captain’s or your guide's discretion.
