Superior Cruising with Pioneers of the Peruvian Amazon
The 31-passenger Amazon Star is indeed a shining star in the Peruvian Amazon cruise fleet, with her 8-day itinerary voted one of the “25 Greatest Adventures in the World” by National Geographic Adventure Magazine.
With over 34 years experience in Amazon River cruises, her owners were one of the pioneers of tourism in the region, and in 2013 took all their experience and knowledge to create this beautiful riverboat.
It has all the modern facilities you'd expect from a new boat, including private balconies, en suite facilities and lecture and fitness rooms. It also features interconnectable cabins and suites, ideal for families. It's also has the Amazon's largest bar/observation deck at 1000 sq ft. Despite the modern facilities, it still retains its expedition charm, having been classically designed and built using locally-sourced, sustainable woods, and furnished to a high standard.
Her epic 8-day Amazon River tour covers more than 600 miles on the Amazon and its tributaries, allowing guests to travel deep into the protected Pacaya-Samiria Reserve, and giving unrivaled access to the Peruvian rainforest’s most pristine areas. This remote access, in the company of some of the river’s most knowledgeable guides, gives her passengers the best chance of spotting rare wildlife that would otherwise not be seen. The villages and tributaries visited are also continuously varied to ensure guests experience the most authentic rainforest adventure possible.
Daily excursions include pre-dawn birding, school visits in local villages and even piranha fishing. Spot monkeys, birds, sloths and other mammals, pink and gray dolphins and so much more. Quite simply, this combination of stunning wildlife, friendly villagers and insightful guides is unsurpassed.
For those shorter on time, a 6-day itinerary is possible which covers the full first 5-days of the 8-day itinerary and then guests disembark early on day 6 at the port of Nauta.
