The 148-foot Celestia yacht, whose name translates to “heavenly” in Latin, is a new, luxurious seven-sailed schooner honoring its Indonesian heritage with a traditional twin-masted phinisi design, and offering guests ambrosial adventures around the Indonesian archipelago—from four- and five-day charter trips in the Komodo National Park, to weeklong sailings around Raja Ampat, the Spice Islands and other destinations in the Coral Triangle.
Handcrafted by the legendary Bulukumba boatbuilders, renowned for their master shipbuilding skills, Celestia combines UNESCO-recognized building traditions with an elegant design, high-end amenities, and first class hospitality.
Life on board
While the yacht’s exterior may reflect centuries-old shipbuilding traditions, the interior design—courtesy of Cape Town-based interior designer Deirdre Renniers and engineered by naval architect Tresno Seery—is rooted in quiet sophistication with its timeless color palette of soft blue, natural stone, and woven rattan in earthy tones, complemented by brass accents.
Her seven spacious, air-conditioned cabins sleep up to 14 guests, with those on the upper deck featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies with panoramic views. All come decked with custom furnishings acquired from emerging Indonesian designers and tastefully accented with pieces sourced from Balinese artisans. The en suite bathrooms even feature seat warmers and Villeroy & Boch finishings.
There’s a distinctly homely feel on board, with welcoming social spaces in which to hang out with your fellow explorers. Guests can indulge in chef-cooked meals and dine al fresco on the Main Deck, watch their favorite shows in the spacious living room equipped with a flat-screen TV, relax on the Main and Upper decks with their roomy seating areas, or venture onto the bowsprit lounge which doubles as a daybed with stunning views.
The Sailing Experience
Whilst an exquisite fusion of modern elegance and traditional Indonesian craftsmanship, the yacht was actually born from that desire to come together and reunite with family and friends, and provides a superb floating home away from home from which you can be immersed in nature with the people you care most about.
The bespoke private sailing experience on board Celestia is an immersive one—during the day, take in the kaleidoscope of marine life amidst crystalline waters and pristine islands; in the evenings, feel the rhythm of the gentle ocean while gazing at the wonders of the celestial skies.
Guest can choose from a range of activities including the best in water sports, from world-class diving (there’s a dive room on board), snorkeling, and paddle boarding, to kayaking, water-skiing, and wakeboarding, as well as birdwatching, island-hopping, stargazing, private beach dinners, spa treatments and nature hikes.
For those travelers seeking a majestic sailing experience aboard a vessel rich with Indonesian tradition and heritage, who also enjoy water sports, wildlife, and wellness treatments, the Celestia yacht is a worthy option.
