Scalesia Galapagos Lodge peeks out over Isabela Island through a dense tropical forest. Sitting on the gentle slopes of a shield volcano, the lodge is 9 miles from the small village of Puerto Villamil. Whether it's from the luxurious safari-style tents or the modern lodge, the resort features a beautiful view of the coast and surrounding islands painted against the Pacific horizon. From the lush slopes of active volcanoes, to the stunning

beaches teeming with tortoises and sea lions, Scalesia lodge and Isabela Island will fill you with wonder. For those who are looking for adventure there is hiking, surfing, kayaking, snorkeling, and biking activities that allow you to explore the beauty of the Galapagos. The expert guides and staff will take you on tours that will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime. An exciting once-in-a-lifetime adventure awaits!

The beautifully designed Scalesia Lodge was inaugurated in September of 2015, and was built with comfort and first class service in mind. The lodge can be found in the center of 16 hectares (40 acres) of vibrant forest on the south side of the island. Isabela Island is home to six volcanoes, and is separated into two sections. The south of the island towers over the the rest of the island casting shadows with its volcanic mountains. The northern half is renowned for its wild and remote ecosystem with shallow waters and shoals. Isabela Island is the most pristine of the three inhabited islands in the Galapagos, and the active volcanoes provide visitors a chance to experience one of nature’s wonders.

Endemic wildlife can be found throughout the island. Of course you will find the famous blue footed boobies as well as other birds such as flamingos, herons, penguins, and finches among other tropical birds. Large marine iguanas swim about, as well as sea turtles, sea lions, manta rays, sharks, eels, dolphins and tropical fish. You will also see land iguanas roaming freely, and the Galapagos tortoises which the islands were named after.

Scalesia Galapagos lodge provides the best activities available on Isabela Island. Las Tuneles is a remarkable area where lava flow and ocean water met to create unique tubes and bridges. The area is inhabited with wildlife such as sea lions, penguins, and Galapagos marine iguanas. The most popular activity is the tour of Volcan Chico and Sierra Negra. Sierra Negra is one of the most active volcanoes in all of the Galapagos, and it most recently erupted in 2005. Just outside town of Puerto Villamil there is a historical site called The Wall of Tears. It was built by prisoners of the island’s penal colony, and the poor conditions led to the deaths of many of the prisoners.

Scalesia Lodge is a new concept of lodging in the Galapagos Islands, it has been designed to connect you with nature and allow you to explore and enjoy Galapagos at its best. With 3 different social areas, 16 beautiful tents packed with amenities, you'll really get to enjoy the beauty and unique tranquility of the Galapagos Islands.
