Sequoia Yacht

Like a floating villa, this sumptuous charter yacht is perfect for honeymooners and small families.

Overview

Built entirely of warm-toned teak and ironwood, and only available for exclusive charters with accommodations for up to six passengers, the 85-ft, handcrafted Sequoia Yacht unites traditional Indonesian design with a luxurious, safari-like cruising experience. A team of 10, including a cruise director, private chef, dive master, and masseur will crew your floating villa, leaving you free to indulge in whatever takes your fancy.

Three Sumptuous Suites

Designed with an emphasis on space, unparalleled privacy and comfort, there are three teak-clad suites on board, all with private bathrooms and walls adorned with antique maps of Indonesian islands. The Island Suite has twin washbasins and a spacious bathroom area; the Sky Suite is on the Upper Deck, putting you closer to the sun loungers. The Ocean Suite can be set up as twins, making it ideal for kids.

Fine Dining

You can look forward to meticulously prepared, artfully presented and utterly delicious meals created from the finest, locally-sourced, seasonal and organic ingredients. The cuisine is mostly Indonesian, so there’s plenty of ultra-fresh seafood, fragrant curries and fruity desserts, but as with most things on Sequoia, the menu can be customized to suit even the fussiest of eaters.

You may choose to dine in the spectacular Great Room, alfresco on the Sky Deck, or on any number of gorgeous island beach settings. Expect lavish breakfasts, three-course lunches and dinners, tasty snacks, afternoon tea, and sunset cocktails.

Facilities On Board

The large semi-open-air Great Room is characterized by handmade teak-louvered doors, and dominated by a large teak dining table, where you can gather for meals and conversation.

The open Bow Deck area in front of the wheelhouse is perfect for sunbathing or reading. The Sky Deck is a 40 x 20-ft platform blessed with endless vistas from sunrise to sunset. You can enjoy drinks and meals at the large central table or relax on one of the two clamshell day-beds and watch a movie on a big screen.

Family Fun

All ages are welcome aboard Sequoia Yacht Indonesia, and there’s specialist kids’ gear so the youngsters can get in on the action. There’s plenty to keep kids occupied, including diving; snorkeling; paddleboarding; kayaking; tubing and more. The crew will even unfurl sails when the breeze picks up, making you feel like early explorers sailing off to chart the territory.

Activities

Each day, you’ll have the chance to snorkel over kaleidoscopic coral reefs, or dive with rare marine species in the company of a Padi-certified instructor. Paddleboard or kayak on the inlets of deserted Robinson Crusoe islands, try your hand at waterskiing or deep-sea fishing, or enjoy a candle-lit beach dinner or some downtime on the Sky Deck, sustained by Indonesian delicacies and ice-cold cocktails.

There’s ample opportunity for cultural immersion, too, as you’ll be taken to remote islands where you can meet local tribes, hike up volcanoes, go bird-watching and browse markets. There’s also a dedicated masseur on board, ready to work massage magic at a time and place of your choosing: on deck or beneath the swaying palms of a nearby beach.

The perfect boat for honeymooners, a group of friends or families, Sequoia Yacht invites you to discover the unspoiled beauty of the Indonesian portion of the Coral Triangle in safety and comfort.

Sample Itinerary

Embarkation

AM: Upon your arrival in the airport, our crew will pick you up. It will take 15 minutes by car and 5 minutes by speedboat to arrive on Sequoia. We will start our day with breakfast and safety briefing. We will cruise for 25 nautical miles to Yarifi Island, Batanta. Estimated arrival is at 1 pm.

PM: We can relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of lush Batanta Island in the short distance while sailing. After lunch, we will take you for a traditional village where locals will welcome you with a traditional celebratory dance. We will start our journey through blue water mangrove on our speedboat, which we will continue to trek in the rainforest of Batanta.

Indonesia has by far the world’s largest population of mangrove trees including the only “blue water” mangroves. Unlike the majority of mangroves elsewhere in the world, the mudflats are not built up, so the water is crystal clear, free of silt and river-borne sediments. This permits lots of light to penetrate to the bottom to the hard and soft multi-colored coral. It is great to snorkel or dive. In the low ties, you may see Walking Sharks sleeping amid the nearby mangroves during the day. The sand is home of the myriad of creatures such as Nudibranch, giant Sea Cucumbers, and patrolling Archer Fish. As a bonus, the jungles behind Mangrove are full of birdlife. This journey will take you one-hour single way of walking through riverbed and canopy trees. If we are lucky, we may see group of birds on the top of trees, Jalang Papua, Kuskus, and our final destination is the majestic waterfall of Batanta. Where you can swim while the tropical birds are singing in the air. Rainforest is not the only place you will be able to explore. Upon return, our crew has set up sunset delight on board with sweet delicacy and cold wine or tea of your choice. We will continue with a fine dining dinner on Sequoia. You can enjoy the cinema with a movie of your wish or taking a good night sleep, or perhaps a spa.

Ron, Yariffi & Birie

AM: You will begin before sunrise an adventure, with waking up early to see the search for the most beautiful bird in the world, The Bird of Paradise of Wilson. In Ron Island, we will do a trek in the jungle for bird watching. They are seen from 6 to 8 am on a clear day. If we are lucky we can see the mating of birds of paradise where males attract females with exotic dance.

Afterwards, you will return to Sequoia for a good nap as we sail to North Batanta so search for Dugong, ocean seacow. Dugong has inspired a famous Disney character, a mermaid even though they do not look alike. If you are lucky, you may spot them in the sea grass while snorkeling/scuba diving.

PM: Next activity is dive/snorkel at Dayang Manta Cleaning Station. Reef mantas can reach up to 6 m wingspan. The manta can be seen from top as you snorkel, as it is shallow only 7 m deep. It is so remote so we may have it just for ourselves. The powerful 225 hp Boston Whaler Dauntless is set up for water skiing with either one or two skis depending on your skill level. Alternatively, you can choose to be towed by our 2-person tube. This is a popular activity for kids to enjoy together as they glide back and forth along the waters of calm bays. A relatively new activity that is gaining popularity is Paddle-boarding. It allows you to enjoy your surroundings without the sound of any machines or engines while viewing the world around you. Shallow reefs are perfect for snorkeling. There are endless possibilities for exploration on hidden beaches and pristine sandbank of Kri, Urun, and/or Yensawai depending on ocean tides. Once we chose to explore the beach, our crew will take you there with the smaller boat and you can bask in the umbrella shade while reading a book and a perfect lunch picnic.

This seven-kilometer-long island has clear and calm waters, which make an ideal location for snorkeling. As you snorkel, you can float above patches of hard corals so complex they alone appear to contain nearly all of Raja Ampat’s more than 500 species.

PM: Kawe is one of Raja Ampat’s true gems and is loaded with some remarkable diving. Though the area is quite small, Kawe touts an impressive amount of dive sites with each site offering an experience different than the last. You can cross the equator lines in one single dive. You may spot mantas using the many cleaning stations or feeding on the surface in the channel between two of the islands. As a bonus, the giant oceanic Mantas are seen here. After you return down on the beach, your butler and chef are ready to serve you a tropical breakfast and a cold-press juice on the beach. PM: After a shower and a morning nap and ready for lunch once waking up. We can continue for a lagoon tour and swimming with baby sharks. You will start to understanding that reef sharks are shy and do not harm the human. Close your afternoon with a beach spa on the deserted island of your choice and waterskiing surrounded by majestic islands. Get your beautiful white dress for a romantic dinner on the beach, which we start early with a sunset picnic on the same spot.

Figure 8 has steep walls where you can look for nudibranchs and moray eels. A big school of sweetlips hangs out under a deep overhang on one side of the island and you will dive amongst schools of red tooth triggerfish and surgeonfish on a large rocky platform.

PM: A light freshly made lunch is ready upon your arrival on the beach. The best pristine beaches are pockets of privacy, artfully selected and in just the right location, not too far to skip to that secret beach where you can do a lunch picnic, massage, or climbing coconut tree. You can do a coconut spa on the beach, kayak, and stand-up paddle boarding navigating turquoise lagoons of Wayag. It will allow you to explore a chain of small islands. As you paddle, you will hear the gentle sounds of nature. You can also observe wild plants such as pitcher plants and orchids. Your day will end with a sunset hike in the west lagoon. Komodo

AM: Komodo is an island of stark contrasts. The west skyline is dominated by Ara Mountain while the ancient volcanic cones of Ntodo Klea stand out in the east. In between the dark green highland lies the wild Lontar palm trees and Zizipus savanna of Loh Liang and Loh Kalo.

It is believed that one upon a time, there was a fairy lady who lived on Komodo Island. The villagers named her Putri Naga, “The Dragon Princess.” The Princess married a local man and gave birth to twins: one human – Gerong – who grew up among the villagers and one dragon – Orah – who grew up in the forest. They never knew that they were siblings. Years had passed when one day Gerong went deer hunting in the forest. As he collected his prey, the dragon came out from the bushes and tried to take it. After he failed to convince the dragon to go away, he lifted his spear ready to kill the dragon. A beautiful goddess, “Putri Naga” appeared and told Gerong not to kill the dragon. She told him that the dragon “Orah” was his twin and they should live in a harmony. To this day, the Komodo Islanders believe that the Komodo Dragons are their family members and should live together sharing their land without borders.

PM: You will meet the villagers who will be excited and proud to introduce you to their customs and traditions. At the end of our sojourn to this village, we will take you to the school to spend time with the local children. Under its blue waters, the convergence of warm and cold currents breeds nutritious thermal climes, rip tides, and whirlpools that attract large schools of pelagic, from dolphins and sharks to manta rays and blue whales. AM: Wayil is lines of coconut and lontar trees that will welcome you to Wayil where we will serve you a sumptuous breakfast to start your morning. You can explore the island with multiple white sand beaches to set up a beach picnic in the morning before high tides wash away all the beautiful sands. It is a great place to relax and get ready for an underwater adventure. What we love about Wayil that it has endless shallow lagoons to choose from for a dive course, refreshment dive skill, or kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. You and your family can be trained together with our own private instructors. From the shallow sandy beaches, you can learn how to breathe underwater, clear your mask, give proper hand signals and other skills to allow you to dive safely. With our PADI-certified dive instructor and 5 stars dive center, your underwater adventure will be safe and unforgettable. We normally start our morning scuba diving at Neptune’s Fan Sea. It is given after the name of Neptune for its beautiful underwater garden. You will be welcomed with endless giant sea fans any size and any colors beyond our imagination. With a close inspection of the sea fan, you might see pigmy seahorse.

Another site is Wedding Cake, named after the tunnel full of soft corals just like the color of wedding cake, which offers a chance to see schools of batfish, trevallies, barracuda as well as pygmy seahorses and an endemic walking shark. This dive site is perfect for snorkeling or a beginner diver, given no strong current.

PM: Dive at Four Kings known for its abundance of hunting trevally and zillions of baitfish. It feels like you are in hunger games where fishes are busy hunting each other given the current allows us to dive here. In the low current, there are not many actions, however you can still enjoy beautiful ridges full of corals and fish. Due to its size, we recommend to spend 2 days in Wayil, which we can also finish with a night dive for a different experience in “Dunia Kecil” dive site.

AM: Jef Pele is less visited island due to its remote location. It is right off the border with Ceram Sea of Moluccas. We recommend spending two days exploring this remote region. They are endless activities to keep you busy yet relax. They are several stingless jellyfish lakes to explore, depending upon the season. They are sensitive to water temperature. They can dormant in the bottom when the water is too warm or too cold. Kaleidoscope dive site is one of our favorites in Misool. It is named after the burst of soft corals and schools of fishes. As you descent, you will see that both sides of the ridges are covered with elephant ear sponges. With a close inspection on the hard corals coral, we may find wobbeggong shark. It feels like in a Pixar movie of Disney. Unreal!

PM: Toblerone dive site is located on the little island nearby Pele. It is named after the V-shaped of the ridge, which we can see after the window underwater. It is quite similar with wedding cake dive site in Wayil. The powerful 225 hp Boston Whaler Dauntless is set up for water skiing with either one or two skis depending on your skill level. Balbulol

AM: Balbulol Archipelago offers endless vistas, most of which are uninhabited, one can find an endless number of hidden bays, coves, and lagoons. It is here that you can explore these calm waters by kayak, stand-up paddle boarding, or one of our speedboats. There is only one homestay located nearby island Panun Island. This homestay does not provide any dive service, which means we might likely to have the dive/snorkeling sites by ourselves. There are several dive sites to choose, one of our favorites is Love Potion no.8. If a good dive, we may see a large school of giant bump head parrotfish feeding on coral reefs.

PM: Snorkeling is very good in the Mango Island nearby while our crew prepares a beach picnic for you to enjoy and relax. There are several fishing camps where Sulawesi Bajau, Ternate, and Yellu people live temporarily in the good month, which allows them to fish. They fish with lines. We can join them in the dinnertime to listen to their story and learn how life in the heart of Coral Triangle depends on ocean.

Danpulol

AM: The islands within Raja Ampat islands are considered by many to be the most beautiful islands on earth. There are hundreds of peaks from to Wayag in the North to Dapunlol in the South that you can hike to get a bird’s eye view and take pictures. The wild territory of less-visited peak in Raja Ampat is Danpulol, which is also known as Harfat Jaya Peak. It is one of the most visual breath- taking and captivating sites in Raja Ampat. The island is heavily forested, and at first sight reveals nothing but a thick green carpet of dense forests. To the east and west of the island, a maze of limestone pinnacles jut sharply out of the blue sea, carved and eroded by the waves and carpeted luxuriantly in vegetation. It also offers various types of natural attractions like karsts, flora and fauna. Reaching the top of the mountain takes some effort but once on the summit, the refreshing air and stunning views will amaze you. You may even see an eagle cruising high above you.

PM: After you return down on the beach, you can swim or snorkel in one of its blue lagoons to cool down while our crew prepares a little delicacy & cold press juice. Peak points are not the only place you will be able to explore. There are endless possibilities for exploration on hidden beaches. Once you choose which beach to explore, we will take you there with the smaller boat and you can bask in the shade while reading a book. The best are pockets of privacy, artfully selected and in just the right location, not too far to skip to that secret beach where you can do a lunch picnic, massage, or climbing coconut tree. Baby sharks are common to be seen on the shallow water near the beach, as well as baby turtles making their first walks to the sea in the late afternoon or in the nighttime. It is majestic.

Tumolol

AM: With more than 50 islands, most all of them are uninhabited, one can find an endless number of hidden bays, coves, and lagoons. It is here that you can explore these calm waters by Kayak, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, or one of our speedboats. Our favorite is Puncak Cinta, which means the love peak. We can take a hike following the wooden stairs, once reaching the summit it is clear that the lagoon has a heart-shaped. We can also explore the lagoon with any activities you feel like doing from snorkeling to stand-up paddle boarding. Scuba diving is also possible.

You will also meet the friendliest people of the planet, 50,000 islanders, who live across 135 villages, which call Raja Ampat their home. It is comprised of thousands of magical Islands each unique in terms of landscapes and culture. You will be brought by local tribes to witness ancient rock art. A number of petroglyphs can be found on walls of caves throughout the island, dating back approximately 5,000 years. We will also visit Tomolol Cave so we can kayak inside ocean cave, where we can also visit the biggest pearl farm in Papua as well as stingless jellyfish lake in the right season. This cave is sacred for locals, which they often visit to get a blessing from God.

PM: Finish your afternoon with tea or a cocktail while you become mesmerized by the romantic sunset of equatorial Indonesia. Continue with Dinner under the stars with the underwater hull lights on to illuminate the sea around you and the music of your choice playing in the background. End your night with a romantic “under the sky” movie cinema up in our sky deck or on a pristine beach.
